Led by Black women. Built for Black motherhood.
Black Mom Ish was created for Black women who are tired of carrying everything alone. The women holding families together.Leading at work while exhausted.
Parenting while healing. Showing up for everyone while quietly running on empty. Too often, Black women are expected to survive silently while being praised for strength, resilience, and sacrifice. Black Mom Ish exists to create honest conversations, meaningful support, and spaces where Black women can be seen fully. Black Mom Ish is a community centered platform creating spaces for Black women through conversations, gatherings, storytelling, and shared experiences.
From live conversations and community gatherings to our podcast and annual conference, Black Mom Ish creates opportunities for Black women to connect honestly, heal openly, and build community together.
Our Story
Black Mom Ish began with a simple truth. Black mothers deserve spaces that honor our joy, protect our well-being, and move resources with intention. We create community, tools, and experiences that make care a culture, not an afterthought.
Our LLC builds the community home base. Our Foundation powers programs and advocacy. Our Shop turns culture into fuel for the mission.
Founding Moms
Our Founding Mothers are the women whose belief, leadership, and commitment helped lay the foundation for Black Mom Ish. Representing diverse experiences and perspectives, they have played an important role in shaping our vision and strengthening the community we continue to build together. Their legacy reflects the power of collective support, shared wisdom, and a deep commitment to ensuring that mothers and families thrive. Although some are no longer with us, these mothers continue to represent where we have been.
